Pink mosque is our first destination, which is a unique blend of Islamic and European architecture that sunshine projects the beauty on the glorious Persian carpets. We will then go to Vakil complex which is consist of a mosque, Bazaar and a bathhouse. Vakil mosque is famous for its beauty, specially 48 Spiral Pillars of monolithic stone, colorful tiles and Nastaliq calligraphies. The interesting point about this mosque is absence of the dome to present equality of position of ordinary people and the king ( Karimkhan Zand).
Vakil bazaar that is just next to the mosque, similar to Iranian traditional bazaars, this place is also roofed, hosting many handicraft and souvenir shops where walking around gives you sense of a market living for centuries. After paying a visit to Vakil bathhouse and having lunch in a traditional restaurant, we head to Arg Karimkhani( Karimkhan citadel), it was once the king’s castle back in 1180 AH ( 1766-7) and later turned into governors’ seat in Qajar era. Visiting Naghsh-e Jahan square in Isfahan made Karimkhan Zand think of building a great structure similar in his capital, the admiring result of his effort in collecting best architects and material from all around the country is the beautiful castle and its surroundings that we visited.
Our last beautifully decorated place to visit is Shah-e Cheragh mosque that is also shrine of Ahmad ibn Musa (Imam Reza brothers). Every inch of the interior space of the mosque is decorated with mirrors, glamorous giant chandeliers hang like frozen rains reflecting the shine to every corner of the mosque is very impressive welcome to Everyone. By end of the day we will go to a café for a nice coffee.
A day long excursion to “Persepolis” 60 kilometers (37 mi) northeast of the city of Shiraz is the initial reason for many tourists to visit Iran. This UNESCO world heritage site is one of the most s attractive ones showing off greatness of Persia’s Kingdom. The structure’s age dates back to 515 BC, when Cyrus the great have chosen the site. This monument is consist of nine structures:
The Apadana (hypostyle receiving hall) , Trachara (Palace of Darius I), Council Hall , Treasury, Throne Hall, Palace of Xerxes I, Harem of Xerxes I, Gate of All Nations, Tomb of the King
Traveling along the road, we will also pay visits to Naqsh-e Rustam, the ancient necropolis of royals and a ceremonial center in Sassanid era, beautifully carved into the cliffs. Naqsh-e Rajab with stories of coronation ceremony in Sassanid era will be our last destination of this day’s excursion through the history. We get back to hotel in Shiraz.
The tour starts from the hotel where you are staying. In the pleasant weather of morning we go to Eram Garden UNESCO world heritage site and the symbol of Persian Gardens which is truly one of the most beautiful Persian gardens. This historic garden is located inside a botanical garden in the area. Aroma of flowers, the splendid view of old cypress trees and the grandeur, calligraphies of the tiles and ornaments of the ancient building enchants visitors. This is definitely a favorite photo shoot location.
Narenjestan Qavam house is our next stop on this day. Qavam “Narenjestan” traditional is a lavish house projecting elegant merchants’ lifestyle in 19 century as interior paintings spired by Victorian era in Europe. Narenjestan Garden is also registered as a UNESCO site. This museum is open to public embraces an eye-catching monument in the heart of the garden facing a stone pool and some fountains surrounded by date palms and sour orange trees that all together bring about a pleasant atmosphere.
Before going to our next destination, think of what you like to hear from a fortune teller since we are visiting Hafez Tomb in the afternoon. Hafez’s mausoleum, locally called Hafeziyeh, is located in the northern edge of the city, in the middle of the pretty garden of Mossalla. Entering the garden a pretty sour orange orchard (Narenjestan) with water streams and rows of flowers draw your attention where the charming mausoleum is located in the center.
Shiraz city tour is not complete without going to Sa’adi’s mausoleum. “Human beings are members of a whole. In creation of one essence and soul.” is a rhyming translations of the poem on United Nations building by the great Persian poet called Sa’adi shirazi. We will pay a visit to his tomb and be familiar how he was embedding Ethics and morals into words and poems. Walking out of the surrounding garden in the evening leaves us with lovely memories of Shiraz city.
